UPPER ARM LIFT - ALSO KNOWN AS BRACHIOPLASTY

In case of upper arm tightening or brachioplasty, the upper arm is shaped by tightening sagging skin or removing fat. These procedures allow to eliminate the unsightly "bat wing" appearance under the arm. The unsightly relaxation of the upper arm extends from the elbow to the armpit area and results from weight loss or natural aging. By removing the excess skin your upper arm gets a tighter, smoother shape. Sometimes this procedure is used in combination with liposuction to achieve optimal results. Every year, thousands of people successfully undergo an upper arm lift and are very satisfied with the results.

WHEN IS AN UPPER ARM LIFT TO BE CONSIDERED

● If your weight is normal, but you are not satisfied with the shape of your upper arms that appear flabby and flabby

● If you have lost a large amount of weight and your upper arms show excess skin and fat resembling bat wings

● If You are ready to accept a scar in exchange for nicely shaped arms

CONSIDERATIONS

ADVANTAGES

● You can again wear tight-fitting clothes on your arms

● You gain self-confidence, improve your self-image and feel more attractive

● You will feel well again when wearing short-sleeved or sleeveless clothing

DISADVANTAGES

● You will have visible scars on the insides of the arms that extend from the armpit to the elbow.

● If the flabby skin under your upper arm is not very solid, an upper arm lift may not be worth the resulting scars (in which case you should Consider a limited-incision brachioplasty or liposuction)

● Your doctor will not be able to predict exactly what your scars will look like

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR AN UPPER ARM LIFT?

Even after you've lost a significant amount of weight and completed a strength training program, you may find that your armpit skin is still loose and limp, indicating the typical batwing image. Even if you can improve the appearance of your upper arm with exercises, this redundant armpit skin remains a problem that can not be eliminated with exercises. Here are some of the common reasons why you might

want to consider an upper arm lift:

● You have lost as much weight as you wish, but as a result have too much redundant, hanging armpit skin

● You are an adult with significant skin flaccidity on the upper arm due to aging

● Your weight is relatively stable and you are not significantly overweight.

● You are a healthy person with no history of medical history indicating a cure or increased risk of surgery

● You are a non-smoker

● You are committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle

● If you are in good general health, have a positive attitude and realistic expectations, you are most likely to be a good candidate for this procedure

DETAILED PROCEDURE INFO

How is an upper arm tightening performed?

1. Your surgeon will create marks on the elbows, arms and armpits. The location, length and direction of these cut lines is dictated by the type of brachioplasty that you are subjected to.

2. You will receive either an intravenous sedation with local anesthetic or general anesthetic, based on your surgeon's recommendation.

3. Your doctor will make the necessary incisions to remove excess skin and fat.

4. The incisions may extend completely within the armpit or, when extended downwards, on the inside of the arms, as concealed as possible in the most invisible places.

5. Your doctor may also use liposuction to remove excess fat.

6. After the incisions have been made, Dr Akhundov removes excess skin and fat and gives your arm a tighter and smoother contour.

7. Finally, the skin is smoothed over the new contour of the arm.

8. Your doctor will close the incisions so that the scars are minimized. Their sutures can be placed under the skin where they are gradually absorbed by the body.

9. A sterile bandage and a compression garment are put on and drains can be placed.

The goal of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon and the entire staff is to help you achieve the best results and make your experience with the Armlift OP as positive and comfortable as possible.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

Your options will be dictated by the skin quality and the extent of excess fat and redundant skin. Your doctor will help you make the right choice based on your anatomy and preferences.

LIPOSUCTION:

Arm liposuction is an option for you if your skin has enough elasticity to allow the remaining tissues to shrink after your fat has been removed. If your skin has a poor elasticity, the sagging of the tissue will be even more pronounced after the removal of the fat. Liposuction can also be used as an adjunct to fat removal in a standard brachioplasty procedure.

LIMITED CUT BRACHIOPLASTY:

If excess drooping skin is near the armpit, your surgeon may be able to pull the excess skin upwards and hide it in the armpit. This works best if you do not have too much excess fat and you want to remove crawling skin in the lower arm area near the armpits.

STANDARD BRACHIOPLASTY:

If your excess skin extends from the armpit to the elbow like a batwing wing, the only option is to completely remove excess skin and sagging tissue in a standard brachioplasty.

EXTENDED BRACHIOPLASTY:

Extended arm lift is similar to a standard brachioplasty except that the cut extends down the arm and along the side of the chest wall containing loose skin and fatty tissue that collects especially in this arm area. Loose skin in this area is often found in patients who have had massive weight loss.

WHAT SCARS AND CUTS WILL BE VISIBLE AFTER AN UPPER ARM LIFT?

Scarring after upper arm tightening will vary depending on the amount of excess tissue removed and the elasticity of the skin. Also, patients undergoing standard brachioplasty leading to larger scars are generally quite satisfied with the results.

LIPOSUCTION

Because the incisions for liposuction are small, the scars are also small. Most liposuction scars fade over time and are barely noticeable later.

LIMITED CUT BRACHIOPLASTY

Your scars will most likely be limited to the underarm areas.

STANDARD BRACHIOPLASTY

The incisions are usually placed on the inside of the arm and can run from the armpit (armpit) to just above the elbow.

ADVANCED BRACHIOPLASTY

The standard brachioplasty incision is stretched down the length of the arm where excess skin and tissue gather under the arm. The armlift incision may extend from the elbow to the armpit and sometimes to the side of the chest.
